Mason Jars, Blenders and a DIY Magic Bullet

Really! Is this not just the coolest thing ever?

Elise at Simply Recipes shares a great tip. Apparently, you can use Mason jars with your blender (provided that it fits.) I checked, and mine does!

You can use it as a coffee grinder, spice grinder, to make mayo, etc. The only thing that I would point out is what someone mentioned in the comments section.

Be very careful when doing this. Liquids (esp hot soups, etc.) can cause strange pressure changes in a blender and would, at best, make a mess if you used a glass jar.

I have always wanted one of those Magic Bullet things for smoothies but am way too cheap to buy one. Now, I am going to keep my eyes open for those Mason Jar glasses I see at thrift stores and yard sales. DIY Magic Bullet!

You can also re-use glass mayonnaise jars in order to make your blender act like a Magic Bullet. Most standard mayo jars have the same screw-neck measurement as blender jars.
